Torn between two places

Life can be difficult, but it’s part of the dance.

On a mountain, we stand, satisfied and proud, excited with what we’ve made. In a valley we take good company with loss and despair. We reflect, steady ourselves, raise our face to the sky and cry to the one who cares, the giver of good. Later, we begin to rely on this cycle that draws us nearer to the lover of our souls. While we continue to long for heaven, our home, we know that we are only travelers in this land, foreigners in a place that doesn’t understand.

Often, we are conflicted when the desire to be in our forever home, is contrasted by the human entanglements of this world. Our allegiance is to heaven, though we walk this earth where desires can be like shifting sand.

We are resident aliens, who long for the day we’ll go home. Still, our relationships with whom we have laughed and loved tether us together until we go to our planned abode. Torn between two places; mend our hurting hearts as we are left here alone.
